Aaron Downey, RW (Det) -- 12:00AM CT - Detroit signed Downey to a one-year contract on Wednesday.
Marian Gaborik, RW (Min) -- 12:00AM CT - Wild president and general manager Doug Risebrough and assistant GM for hockey operations Tom Lynn traveled to Gaborik's home in Trencin, Slovakia, last week as a starting point for the negotiating process on a contract extension. Gaborik had career highs in goals (42) and points (83) in 77 games for the Wild in 2007-08, but finished with just one assist in six playoff contests.
